why i chose 'varied artist' ...and more

Mon Mar 6, 2006, 11:30 PM
NEWS; less than 2500 days till 2012, ready or not great change is coming...

the paragraph following this one may sound egotistical, i assure you i am not, i am however confident in myself, the 'invisible to the naked eye' spirit world that surrounds us all, (there's more to life that meets the eyes unless of course you partake in certain 'fruits and herbs' of the earth or have the ability to harness certain 'magics'), and i am confident in 'mother' nature, she knows best, you can trust her, jesus was cool but nature is god, if you're going to have faith let it be in karma and reincarnation

i consider myself to be a literary artist first and formost, not by choice so much as a feeling of obligation, i feel a responsibility to do something about the human situation since i have ideas i believe could be solutions to our problems, i'm not sure what else to do so for now i write, ideas come to me and i write them down, i believe it is important to share, that is why i am here, writing takes up a lot of my time i'd rather spend elsewise

next, (time spent doing) a culinary artist, i love playing with food, but most of all i love gardening, it calms me and brings me much joy, if i had the land or was given a 'hand' i would be a medicine man, growing food for you, 60+ hours a week, then hibernating during the winters, i can spend an entire day, sun-up till sun-down in a gardenspace, getting earthy, smelling the different herbs and flowers, even the compost pile, it makes me feel great, healthier, it feels right, the vivid colors of the chaos of nature amaze me, watching the birds, bugs and bees (and bats @ night) always puts a smile on my face, sometimes so much that my face hurts the next day like after 'coming home' from a long 'magic' mushroom 'trip' [or is there home], basically i am in awe of life itself and the reality that seeds + earth + water + sunlight = bounty >imagine if we all were fit and healthy like our ancestors and we bathed naked in the sun each day like other animals do, after doing our prostrations, grace & beauty could be ours again

if we all were concious at every moment of the slight chance that the perfect relationship between the earth, the sun and then moon existed we'd walk around smiling widely in constant awe of being, more thankful, humble, calm, confident and serene

our daily habits are the cause of much planetary and human suffering, try meditating on this and fasting once in a while, practice self-restraint, find value in things other than money and objects, love, share and help one another; we're capable of so much more than monetary success, we need to make changes or suffer the consequences, for every action there is a reaction, believe that

in the west whoever rises to the top, is the fastest or best is revered and admired, in Tibetan culture the one who lets go of her/his ego is, we have much to learn and if we are to be truly free, gandhi convinced the british of the wisdom of their leaving india, the bondage we in the west live in is less obvious, 'the quiet destruction of the natural world is the narrative of our time, a story that needs to be told and retold, in ways too compelling to ignore. But the design world is caught up in another story, the commercial story, the catch the eye! stimulate desire! move the merchandise story.'-from 'adbusters' magazine, we are beginning to wake up to this, but many are still unaware of the deception under which they live, we are surrounded by lies and illusions from the genetically modified food we eat, the grand science experiment with unknown long term effects we are all partaking in (we are the test subjects!), vegans beware!; there are scorpions in your corn, spiders in your tomatoes, fish in your strawberries, etc. (check out greenpeace's 'safe shopper's guide' for help on this, if you want it), it's in the chemically treated city water and the plastic-tasting store bought supposedly distilled water we drink, the sweat shop produced synthic clothes and useless accessories we wear, the frivolous array of made in china plastic goods we buy at the dollar store because we can, the illusion of abundance has been prevalent for generations but is nearing an end, we need to face the facts, we are destroying the planet which sustains us, our home planet, the air we need to breathe, the ozone layer that protects us, the oceans and lands that feed us, what are you going to do about it!!!, will you change???, will you wake up and live? like bob marley sang, for the chance that future life on earth can exist, i pray that you do, those who use you depend on your compliance, you can be free ....TODAY!, zero dollars down, many who know are still complacent, sitting around typing about this to each other in chatrooms, feeling sorry for ourselves, we seek distraction, escape, release, there are many good things to do, ways to spend time, but many spend time (life) wastefully, guys competing with each other - showing off who can kill their brain cells fastest with alcoholic drinks, why don't you smoke that good herb instead?, the earth grew it for us, wild animals eat it, we've allowed ourselves to be domesticated, one of my best friends, NYC,called me the other day talking about how he wants to get back in great shape again so he can feel like a wild animal, i know the feeling, forget spending $2000 on a vacation to some far-away resort where you don't even experience the place, just stay inside the walls get drunk and fuck?, what a waste, you can spend 20$ on some magic mushrooms and spend the afternoon 'tripping' around your apartment, you'll feel better i guarantee, please take measures to expand your mind, stop destroying it, girls going out for pesticide ridden stale coffee in their pajamas, trying to look fabulous or famous and failing, try herbal tea instead, maybe then you wouldn't look so horrible and age so quickly, you'd actually look and be smarter and better, getting through school on coffee and high-sugar snacks?, try ginko biloba or gotu kola and organic fruit, naturally sweet and nutritious, stop trying to look cool and just be cool, depressed, cynical, beaten down, for centuries the populace has been dominated by the ruling class because the ruling class was smarter but today information is more free and readily accessible, people are informing themselves, rising out of the cesspool of ignorance they've barely been tredding above, (props to don for that quote), 'cesspool of ignorance' the tail has been waging the dog for too long, the dog noticed, was complacent for generations but is becoming more active, (rising up) we'll chase and bite the tail soon unless tail stops playing games, the beautiful gift of life is that we have free will, we have freedom of choice, speech not so much, we can choose what we do with our days, [bow], we can stand up to the corporations who are quietly ruling our lives and destroying our habitat by boycotting them, like the banks they are nothing without us, we hold the power, but presently, collectively we are a bunch of suckers, pushovers, we can act together collectively to convince the tycoons of the wisdom of their 'giving back', just as we all should give back a certain percentage of our wealth, now matter how small the amount of 'disposable income' we have to the planet that provided us the oppourtunity to earn it, i suggest WWF (world wildlife fund) or Greenpeace, the earth warriors, personally i am practicing civil disobedience in that i practice non-cooperation with any corporation guilty of crimes against the planet and/or humanity, i boycott them all, it's easy and i am more free because of it, i ignore their existence, billboards and ads mean nothing to me, i laugh, equality is the goal and i believe is an inevitablity, if they don't give us what we deserve we will take it, perhaps the bird flu will wipe out millions even billions of us 'humans' {imagine worf's voice} hehe and soon we will experience the end of the world as we know it, (not so funny, but for the best), learn about the end of the mayan calendar 2012, hopefully the survivors will learn from history, never repeat it and rebuild sustainably, i really do believe that in our near future it will be every one for themselves, and each other if they come together, bird flu will be mother nature's way of 'cleaning house', thinning out the population, killing off the weak, it is for the best, for the future generations

equality inevitibilia, (more on this later)

also i take pictures of beautiful/interesting things when i can, mostly to share with others, i don't really consider this to be art so much as 'capturing' what is already there

and i have a # of small and big viable eco-friendly business ideas i can't do much about without any capital, so i suppose i may one day be an economic artist

i write because i have to, if i don't i can't rest, my mind won't stop, i have scribblings on scraps of paper that if stacked might be almost as tall as me, i need a few months (at least i guess) in almost complete solitude to file through and complete them (essays, letters, poems, scripts, a few short books, etc.), hopefully this coming winter i can finally afford to hibernate and do it, it's like a homework project i started nearly a decade ago that i can't seem to find the time to finish, new stuff keeps coming faster than i can finish the older stuff, i feel the need to rush, i feel the teacher calling

a wise spirit once told me that i must purify myself so that i will have a clear mind and a kind heart so that the creator can work through me, i'm working on it, one breathe, one bite, one prayer at time, lately i've mostly been praying for an end to violence and that my sick mind and body be healed, growing up in the west sure 'does a #' on you, i'm slowly getting better; was sad and weak for a long time, my 'heart' ached, still does sometimes but i think we'll be alright, though surely not without a fight, so if your in put on your shitgear, it could get messy

i believe that a life can be a flowing work of art if it manages to keep the flow, wild animals have this, they live in the moment, perhaps that is where we humans differ, we spend so much time thinking/worrying/planning for the future and freting over/thinking/talking about the past that we're missing the now, the reality that death can come at any moment somehow eludes us, the past is gone, we are all one, let's move on, inve$t in the now instead of saving for a future that may not exist if we don't act, please partake in one or more of the great projects one or more of your fellow human beings has begun, or start one yourself

"there is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man, true nobility is being superior to your former self" -anonymous, found on original Radiohead website

like the buddha said 'all is change'

"All the suffering in the world arises out of wanting happiness for self. all happiness in the world arises out of wanting happiness for others" -Shau Tideva

i am a simple man, a minimalist, i want my life to be an example of how one can be happy and healthy with almost nothing, clean air, water and food, love and sunshine are all i need, music and laughter's what saved me, temporary insanity, hilarious ...and i am left with feelings of peace, calm and serenity, confident and sure i do not worry anymore, i am finally truly happy again, the way i felt as a boy, which is the secret to life by the way, i'm not sure i'm supposed to tell you this but it's to remain a child your whole life, life is child's-play, the mushrooms told me so...

you may laugh at this because you find it funny and/or you don't 'believe', but know this, magic surrounds you, that's the truth

'After taking the drink many times, I fully agree with those natives (indigenous people of the Amazon basin) who say 'yaje' is a living presence with a remarkably strong and vivid personality. It is not unusual for the spirit of the vine to appear in one's visions and announce that it is a direct channel to a superior being --God, Nature, Spirit.' -an excerpt from 'The Transformative Spirit of Yaje by Jimmy Weiskopf found in a magazine called 'Shaman's Drum, a journey of experimental shamanism & spiritual healing No.70, 2005

you are not alone, you are a small part of something much bigger, we are all connected, you matter but you don't at the same time, it is better to think of how you can best serve your fellow beings than how you can best serve yourself, ironically though the more you give the more you get, they call it karma and it too is for real, like the story of a monk who sacrificed his flesh for a starving tiger and her cubs because he had faith in being reincarnated to a higher realm after death, samsara, the buddhist philosophy of the cycle of life, birth, death, rebirth...if there was more sharing and less greed all of us would have all that we need,

'When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-And the time will come when you see we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.' George Harrison

more about letting go of ego later,

ego and greed are ruining us and earth, let's get over it already

until next time i add or update this one and only journal entry, peace and love brothers and sisters, may you and life on earth live long and prosper

here i will sign off with my favorite poem, i believe it is important to consider
-------------------------------------------
FOR THE CHILDREN by Gary Snyder >from Turtle Island, New Directions, 1974

The rising hills, the slopes,
of statistics
lie before us.
the steep climb
of everything, going up,
up, as we all go down.

In the next century
or the one beyond that,
they say,
are valleys, pastures,
we can meet there in peace
if we make it.

To climb these coming crests
one word to you, to
you and your children:

stay together
learn the flowers
go light

i will do my best to remain deviant (be myself), but what if i deviate too much? will i be banned?, hehehe, (msg board battles coming soon)

it's sucks that i can't be totally truthful in my observations and commenst, it's too bad many people can't handle the truth, (or even other's opinions on so-called art, sarcastic remarks about unhelpful help, comments about annoying as hell avatars and other space-wasting shit, esp. wasting other's space with 'THANKS FOR THE FAV's), can't we all just assume each other is/are thankful?, btw, nobody has faved any of my stuff yet (crying), my ego is dying......ahhhhh (falling into an abyss of self-pity).........ego-death

....oh yeah, that's a good thing

maybe in a few years, 2012, people will change, (me-centered living into we-centered living), loosen up, this is my hope, until then i'll keep on having fun and making jokes (but only at other people's expense of course, because i'm one of those people who doesn't like people)

-keepin it real (well, with a bit of silly/sometimes bad humour and confusing remarks thrown in to amuse myself)
